Is EXO-M needed?

(WARNING! This post may have opinions that differ from your own, read at your own risk!)

So a lot of people are always asking, is EXO-M really necessary? Are they really needed? EXO is a twelve member group that is split into two groups of six members, one is Korean, the other Chinese. I think its safe to say that K is the more popular group of the two.

And that's okay, I actually think that K is a great group! Don't get me wrong! But the common argument is: why is there M? I wanted to talk about them and why I feel they ARE important and why they need more love and respect.

Okay, first off, people seem to think that EXO M is only somewhat popular because of Kris & Luhan. Okay, wut? I have seriously heard this being said before and it makes me want to punch and innocent piece of paper in the face.

Only popular because of them?!

(One thing to remember is that I was more M biased in the first place!) I always have had rather unusual biases, meaning, while most people like Gikwang or Yoseob in Beast, I like Dongwoon. Or some people like Kai in K but I don't.
So for someone to say that people only like them because of Kris and Lulu annoys me, I LOVE THEM ALL!! But mainly Lay C:

Second, the 'EXO-M can't dance!' line comes up ALL THE FREAKIN' time! It drives me up the wall just because of this: not everyone has to be an amazing dancing machine. EXO M can do hella a lot better then me so... why is this such a problem for people?

I will admit EXO-M isn't as sharp and neat like K is, you can see in a side by side comparison. But does it matter? I freaking love them both and if you did too a dance wouldn't matter.

Thirdly, are they needed?

Yes. Without EXO-M SMent wouldn't be able to reach to the Chinese fandom/population. Obviously they have fans there and what better way to get more then to make a Chinese group? The point of M was to gain more Chinese fans and make money from China, face it.

Just like how SuJu has Super Junior- M its the same thing. They need a fan base and that's why they are there.

Okay, enough with the annoyed nonsensical ranting, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, the past week or two have been very dramatic and busy. Plus I made a tumblr so....

COM-MUN-ITY

COM-MUN-ITY! Okay, this is a response to a certain someone that I know.

K-pop is an abbreviation for Korean pop music (also referred to as GaYo or KaYo music), specifically from South Korea. Many of these artists and musical groups have branched out of South Korea and have become popular in many countries around the world.

Honestly, its the people who naively dis k-pop that get on my nerves, because besides the music and the bands, there is much much more out there then anyone realizes.

Fans:

As a fan, our idols mean a lot to us. There are someone we look up to, swill wise, mentality, profession, whatever it may be, we love them. Of course there are looks and things, that's just an added bonus!

The number one thing for us is to support or idols/bands/actors as much as we can! I think its safe to say everyone would cheer for their favorite band, give gifts, letters, voting. There are many ways to show support to our idols.

Frankly, there are so many people into k-pop that it would be impossible to not make friends, which is the point I am writing this. Its a community, honestly. Everyone basically gets along! You can cheer almost always with someone over something.

Thats the thing, I'm am not alone. I have millions of people with the same basic love of k-pop as I.

I write stories and I interact with people, I am not some loner that has no life I don't. I have friends and people I love to talk to. I could talk to anyone (On a fan site) and be able to agree on something, like the same ONE thing, whatever it may be.

Anywho, GUESS WHAT I FOUND OUT!!!

Where would we be 1

Where would we be without English subtitles.
It a serious question and I've been thinking about it a lot. Honestly, I don't speak Korean, I plan on moving to Japan, so I am learning Japanese.  And I don't know what the songs mean without them.

But there are people who's native language is English that speak Korean, obviously. But there are also people who don't speak Korean like me that would probably not like k-pop without the subs, or is that just me?

There are songs like Don't Spray Perfume that are great until you know what it's about, and you could be completely oblivious to the actual meaning- which is a terrible meaning- without them. Its just a thought, but it means a lot.

On another note, with the subtitles awesome translators provide for us we can learn more about our favorite bands, like how Teen Top are all cheaters  -shot- and that BAP (Dancing in the Rain) are really just perverts, same with Super Junior-H. Frankly, I dont think k-pop would be as big without them.

Maybe is is just me and I am writing this for nothing, but I really truly think that people like me wouldn't have the understanding that we do without it. Including just regular lyric sheets, think about it.

Sorry for the short post, I plan on doing more on these, just don't feel like writing so much when I need to finish a fiki chapter xD!

Rookies

Rookies, there are so many of them lately its hard to keep track. And they are slowly becoming a popular bashing trend. I don't even understand why. I wanted to talk about it.

From what I have (found out) heard, there is an eight year cycle for idol bands. A fresh new set of rookies debut during the beginning of these new cycles. For example: ATTACK. ATTACK is a new rookie group that just came out, with their song Plan B.

It's an overall -in my opinion- a good song, it could use some work but for rookies its decent enough. I wont go into crazy details about the song but you can watch it here. Now, I watched this on allkpop the day it came out, comments shocked me!

Plan B? Yeah, they might want to try plan b, this sucked. Rookies.

That's all I saw, just with a slight twist- or: What the frick is with all these rookies? Its like thirty everyday, seriously?
Yeah... seriously? These groups are trying to make a living and get out there, and there are so many people complaining about it! These people work hard, really, really hard to get chosen. I mean sure, this song has faults, BUT THEIR ROOKIES.

Rookies.

K? People are comparing these newer- less popular- bands to rookies like B.A.P and EXO. Okay, its safe to say that EXO and BAP are freakin' awesome, they are like my favorite bands ever (B2ST: What about us! We thought you loved us!!!)! But they are rookies, and they arent getting the same hate. They came out in May (im wrong right?), and yet when they came out everyone liked them, but these bands like EXCITE and ATTACK are getting mean comments. Rookies need time to grow, and if you stuff them down with the same expectations for more established bands like SuJu or SHINee, you will be very disappointed!

Basically to sum it up, if you don't like the new groups, stick to the famous ones you do like! Just please, please dont make these rookies bashing subjects. These people *good looking men* work so hard and when people do this it only makes things bad.

Intro

Hello! I am Megumi, although I prefer to be called Meg (No, its not my real name). I am a girl that is obsessed with k-pop. Korean culture is something I am extremely fond of, but not limited to- I like Asia in general.

My basic goal in life right now is to start my college studies here- in the US- and finish them in Korea. I plan on moving to Korea when I'm older and I am already preparing for that six years ahead! I am very excited and am learning the language slowly... very slowly ^_^'!

I started this blog so that way I could mark my progress and so on; mainly because I feel like I should. The main thing though is I want to keep track of my writing, as I am a writer and I need to improve.
A lot.

I want to learn Korean, (I nearly finished Japanese and then forgot it all after awhile :( ) I want to learn Korean traditions, where I am going to live, there are so many things I need to know before I leave- in six years- so I am working on that now rather than later.

Ask questions! I love them so much! I have a twitter I might add, I might not. I just want to throw out there: I plan on doing k-pop reviews. I have a lot of spare time -noidontshutupself- so I want to!
